South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the 2022-23 academic year to fill a full-time, tenure track position in College and Career Success. The total annual salary is $62,200. This includes a basic assignment of 177 contract days with a salary of $59,000 and a stipend of $3,200. The effective date of employment will be September 12, 2022.
This academic department helps students prepare for college and career, and the successful candidate will be integral to addressing diversity, equity and inclusion strategies to improve outcomes for many cohorts, particularly for students of color and part-time students. Successful candidates will possess the interest, skills and abilities to help college teams lead the state in innovative and collaborative learning experiences designed to optimize student success.

Faculty members will work with other faculty, staff, and administrators to:
Increase persistence, retention and success for all students, but particularly for students of color and other underserved groups.
Collaborate with other faculty and departments, particularly the library and tutoring centers, to build partnerships and collect resources that support students’ college and career success.
Create and facilitate contextualized and integrated learning experiences in College and Career Success in relation to identified college pathways that are linked to career goals.
Create authentic assessments of students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in College and Career Success that measure course, program, and college wide outcomes.
Apply multiple high-impact and high-engagement teaching and learning strategies.
Provide online, hybrid, and/or e-Learning enhanced courses.
Use local, state, and national data and analytics to continuously improve strategies for student success.
Advise students regarding academic pathways and the courses needed to reach each student’s academic goals
Use a wide range of learning resources, tools and technologies to improve access and student success in higher education.
Serve on committees that support the shared governance of the college.
Qualifications You PossessMinimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Education, Human Development, Psychology, Sociology or other applicable discipline
Cultural Self — The ability to understand one’s own intersectional identity and how it influences identity development and how one navigates the world.
Inclusive Pedagogy: Curriculum, Assignment Design, Assessment, and Classroom Culture, UDL.
Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working/learning environment.
Experience with strengths-based, cultural wealth models, and/or other inclusive pedagogical strategies in the high school or college environment
Research background, particularly in evidence-based, high-impact teaching and learning strategies
Experience teaching and supporting a wide range of students, including non-traditional college students and historically underserved students
Demonstrated experience in the successful creation and deployment of high-impact, high-engagement curriculum
