Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology – Mental Health Counseling

We have an exciting opportunity for a new faculty member to join our Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling program and our undergraduate Psychology program.

An appointment in Psychology at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor is available on August 1, 2021, in the Division of Science at IUPUC. Rank will be dependent on qualifications and experience. The position is a twelve-month teaching assignment with expectation of teaching graduate courses in mental health counseling and service to the program, campus, community and profession. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and a collaborative mindset are a must. The successful candidate will join a psychology faculty that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to respective professional identities.

The successful candidate will act as Director of Clinical Training for the graduate program, administering the Schoellkopf Community Counseling Center; a state of the art, 1,000 square foot campus-based training clinic which opened in Fall 2020. The position will also work with the graduate program director to manage relationships with field experience sites in the community. Given the service required of this position, a 2 – 3 teaching load is required with the expectation of also teaching summer courses. Candidates must be sensitive to the needs of and possess an interest in working in an academic community that is diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or identity, disability status, and protected veteran status.

REQUIREMENTS: An earned doctorate in counselor education, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a related field is required. The successful candidate will be licensed or eligible for Indiana licensure as a mental health counselor, psychologist, health service provider in psychology, or related licensed profession. The successful candidate will possess the ability and interest to teach graduate courses that could include psychopathology, addictions, or other courses. Some undergraduate teaching may also be required on occasion.

PREFERENCES: Demonstrated ability to teach psychology and/or counselor education courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. Possess two years or greater post-licensure clinical experience. Ability to provide clinical supervision for practica and internships in training clinic and/or community-based settings. Experience with face to face and online instruction. Experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships across different entities. A record of teaching and serving under-represented populations and first-generation college students.
