Denison University’s Counseling Services Department is seeking an active and engaged mental health clinician who wishes to contribute their energies to a dynamic team of hardworking and competent professionals. This is a 10 month, full-time position, August through May, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
On-Call rotation and outreach programming require some nights and weekends. Salaried.

Responsibilities of this position include: providing screening/triage services for students, short-term individual and group therapy, crisis evaluation and intervention, and outreach and/consultation services.
Essential Job Functions
Provide direct clinical service (individual, group) to a diverse undergraduate student population. Provide culturally informed clinical counseling services with a willingness and ability to work within a brief therapy model. Demonstrated ability to provide diagnostic assessment and treatment for a wide range of diagnoses. A commitment to crisis intervention, urgent care counseling and after-hours on-call rotation is required for this position. Perform outreach programs, training, collaborative activities and consultation to the college community as needed. Serve on university committees as requested. Provide supervision to Master’s and Doctoral level practicum trainees as needed.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in line with state, federal and licensing mandates. Serve as a mental health representative to campus.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work or Doctoral Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work. Must be licensed in the state of Ohio. Minimum of three years of professional counseling experience. Previous clinical experience with young adults within a university setting (may include internship training). Strong clinical skills in crisis intervention and risk assessment.
Demonstrated experience and interest in working with racially/culturally diverse clients from historically underserved communities, including BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ populations.
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and must be insurable under Denison’s liability insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications
Therapeutic knowledge and experience treating a young adult population with a broad range of developmental issues and psychological concerns. Demonstrated commitment toward an anti-racism lens with an understanding and appreciation for issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
