The Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division of San Mateo County Health is seeking experienced individuals for our Psychiatric Social Worker/Marriage & Family Therapist I/II – East Palo Alto Community Counseling Center positions. One position works primarily with youth, adolescents, and families from the African American community, but some time may be spent providing services to adults. The second position works primarily with adults from the African American community, but some time may be spent providing services to youth, adolescents, and families.
Looking for a demonstrated level of experience/background and skills providing services to African American community from a cultural humility perspective.
The Ideal Candidate will possess:
A current license as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist
Experience working with clients from African American communities
Solid clinical assessment, diagnostic and evaluation skills
Experience with crisis assessment and triage
Knowledge of principles, techniques and trends in counseling, psychotherapy, clinical case management, and various treatment modalities
Experience developing and implementing group treatment
Knowledge of mental health laws and regulations, particularly as they relate to managed mental health care
Experience in recent innovations in the delivery of mental health services, including managed care
Strong documentation skills (timely and accurate): progress notes, assessments, client care plans, etc.; experience with electronic records
Demonstrated expertise, skill and interest in working with a broad range of clients of diverse cultures and backgrounds, including African American, Hispanic and Pacific Islander, especially children with emotional disturbance and their families, and seriously mentally ill adults and older adults
Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with clients, families and the public
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with collaborative partners, including other agencies, school districts, etc.
Demonstrated skill in interdisciplinary collaboration
The ability to make sound decisions based on the exercise of judgment and the consideration of all available information
The current vacancy is a full-time position in Behavioral Health and Recovery Services located in East Palo Alto.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification:
Psychiatric Social Worker I: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker. An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within three years from the date of employment as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the State of California.
Psychiatric Social Worker II: Current California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Marriage & Family Therapist I: Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. An individual hired in this classification must become licensed within three years from the date of employment as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California.
Marriage & Family Therapist II: Current California license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is a Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Welfare or a closely related field and knowledge of current philosophy, principles, Trauma Informed Care and other Evidence Based Practices for services to clients with serious mental illness; individual, group and family psychodynamics as they relate to adults or youth; psychological diagnostic methods and terminology; personality development from infancy through adulthood; and human and health services systems in the County including private agencies and other community resources.
Salary:
Psychiatric Social Worker I/Marriage & Family Therapist I:
$38.33 – $47.92 Hourly
$79,726.40 – $99,673.60 Annually
Psychiatric Social Worker II/Marriage & Family Therapist II:
$43.11 – $53.89 Hourly
$84,572.80 – $118,934.40 Annually
