Through the provision of an array of culturally competent and evidence-based psychological services, consultation with faculty and staff, and programming, CAPS staff contribute to the attainment of student educational objectives, encourage student engagement in the university community, and support students’ personal and professional success
As a comprehensive student counseling center, we endeavor to create a welcoming and affirming environment that honors diversity and values individual and cultural differences. We strive to accomplish our mission through a variety of professional services including individual and group psychotherapy, psychological testing, crisis intervention, drug and alcohol programs, training of helping professionals and outreach and programing for the university community.

Based on our mission and core values, we are seeking a team member who is capable of and committed to the following: As a culturally responsive member of a highly supportive and collaborative team, the BIPOC-Focused Mental Health Provider delivers quality direct clinical services and outreach programing to university students with a focus on the BIPOC community, particularly African-American students. In addition, this provider offers assistance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of services for BIPOC students. This provider will serve as the liaison to the Multicultural Student Center and other units on campus that serve BIPOC students. This position reports to the Director.
Ideal candidates for this position are those who have strong generalist skills for working with the university student population, as well as expertise in understanding the impact of racial trauma. Campus outreach will center on promoting help seeking behaviors, as well as creating inclusive mental health awareness/stigma reduction messaging that are reflective of BIPOC students.
We know that personal lived experiences and identities impact our professional work and the ways in which we engage with our students, colleagues, and campus partners.
