Job Summary:
The Director will provide vision and direction for a CAPS program that is proactive, developmental, and preventative in scope. Specifically responsible for overseeing the service delivery, budget, strategic planning, and assessment of Counseling and Psychological Services; providing leadership to the campus regarding student mental health concerns and serving as a member of the Student Success Leadership Team; providing individual personal counseling to Babson undergraduate and graduate students using a short-term treatment model; triaging new intakes; developing and leading groups, making appropriate referrals on and off-campus, and providing educational and outreach programming to the campus community; consulting, as appropriate, with staff, faculty, families, professionals and students; providing risk assessments and crisis interventions as necessary; and overseeing the Clinician-On-Call rotation and serves in an on-call capacity for mental health emergencies during non-business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the successful delivery of counseling related services, which includes assessment, urgent care counseling, individual counseling, group counseling, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Manage the department budget and fiscal resources: responsible for long and short-range strategic, fiscal, and organizational planning; manages the general operation of CAPS; prepares reports on student utilization, campus trends in mental health, and policies that impact the delivery of mental health services, including monthly dashboard indicator reports.
- Manage and use technology as appropriate (e.g., website development, electronic medical records, online modules) to support the mission of the center.
- Establish departmental approaches to elicit and utilize student and stakeholder input regarding CAPS, including issues of access to, satisfaction with, and impact of the services.
- Consult with other members of the Babson College community, families and other professionals regarding student care, within the limits of confidentiality.
- Serve as a member of the CARE (BIT) team, providing case management when appropriate.
- Provide training on mental health issues and suicide prevention to the campus community, including, but not limited to, staff and student leaders.
- Plan, lead, and facilitate a weekly administrative staff meeting as well as a weekly clinical consultation meeting. Attend other departmental and division meetings and events as required.
- Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed.
- Partner with other Health & Wellness Departments (Health Services, Religious & Spiritual Life, and Wellness & Prevention Services) and other campus partners in the development of a holistic approach to health and wellbeing at Babson.
- Provide intake assessments with triage-based disposition and referral.
- Provide individual counseling for students within a brief and focused counseling model.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical interactions and consultation.
- Perform case management and administrative responsibilities in support of clinical work.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Supervises:
A multidisciplinary team of clinicians (psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and a consulting psychiatrist)

Education Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education Required Ph.D./PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology, MSW, MA in counseling/clinical psychology, or equivalent; licensed by the State of Massachusetts
Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:
- 10+ years of related counseling experience and licensed by the State of MA.
- Must have working knowledge of ethical, legal, and clinical issues and standards as they apply to college counseling center settings.
- Must have knowledge of mental health principles, practices, and developmental issues as they apply to young adults.
- Must have demonstrated strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity.
- Must have experience providing brief counseling, providing risk assessment and crisis response.
- Must have strong verbal, writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with culturally diverse individuals at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated technological competence with an appreciation and skill to apply technology in departmental operations and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) as well as any CAPS specific software (Titanium). - Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrated ability and experience providing supervision to diverse and experienced clinical staff.

Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:
10+ years of experience in a college counseling center strongly preferred.
